Job Description

Position Purpose

The Director of Nursing will lead City Health’s perioperative services in Queensland, ensuring safe, compassionate, and consistently highquality care. This role shapes how patients are welcomed, informed, and supported throughout their procedure journey—embedding City Fertility’s values into daily practice.

You will steward clinical governance, drive continuous improvement, ensure accreditation excellence, and develop a confident, capable nursing workforce. Working closely with medical, embryology, and administration, compliance and operational colleagues, you will help deliver outstanding clinical outcomes while fostering a culture where people feel supported, heard, and proud of the care they provide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and role-model patient-centred perioperative care aligned with City Fertility values
  • Provide hands-on clinical leadership during theatre lists, guiding and supporting the teams on the floor, working with staff and clinicians
  • Provide visible clinical leadership across theatres, recovery and admissions/discharge
  • Maintain accountability for perioperative clinical governance, risk management, and incident review
  • Ensure ongoing accreditation readiness against NSQHS (Second Edition) standards
  • Oversee infection prevention and control systems, including AS 5369:2023 compliance
  • Manage compliance requirements including Clinical Indicators and EVA system reporting (QLD)
  • Serve as a key member of the Medical Advisory Committee, including meeting oversight
  • Optimise theatre efficiency, patient flow, and list utilisation in collaboration with clinical partners
  • Lead workforce planning, rostering, recruitment, performance development, and retention
  • Build a culture of psychological safety, open communication, and continuous learning
  • Oversee equipment, consumables, and perioperative resource management
  • Analyse quality, safety, and operational data to drive continuous improvement
  • Manage perioperative complaints and contribute to budget and cost-control strategies

What we are looking for?

  1. Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, eligible under the Nurses Award 2020 (RN Level 5 or equivalent)
  2. Significant perioperative nursing leadership experience in day procedure or specialist environments (IVF or women’s health highly regarded)
  3. Demonstrated expertise in NSQHS standards, accreditation processes, and infection prevention and control systems, including AS 5369:2023
  4. Advanced communication, leadership, and relationshipbuilding skills with a compassionate, patientfirst approach
  5. Strong continuous improvement mindset with experience using data, audits, and feedback to elevate clinical quality and team capability
