Your Role:

As a Peri-Operative Nurse, primarily working in Anaesthetics/Recovery at our Jolimont & Notting Hill Day Hospitals, you will:

  • Assist with Pre-Operative Assessment/Admission
  • Assist with Anaesthesia Administration
  • Assist with Intraoperative Monitoring
  • Assist with Airway Management
  • Assist with Post-Operative Care
  • Assist with Patient Education & Support
  • Assist with Emergency Preparedness
  • Assist with Documentation & Compliance
  • Be Collaboration with the Surgical Team/Laboratory Team/IVF Team/Clinical Team
  • Assist with Equipment Maintenance

This position offers the opportunity to work across two Day hospitals, enhancing your skill set and providing variety in your clinical practice. Multiskilling is essential in this role, ensuring you are adaptable and versatile in different peri-operative settings.

About You (criteria):

Qualifications and Experience:

We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate, and patient-focused nurse with the following:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree or higher (for Registered Nurse)
  • Post graduate certificate in perioperative nursing
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • At least 2 years of clinical peri-operative nursing experience, with a minimum of 1 year in anaesthetics.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Advanced Life Support (ALS) preferred).
  • Legally entitled to work in Australia (proof required).

Knowledge and Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of day surgery (theatre) nursing.
  • Computer literate.
  • Adherence to Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) National Competency Standards for Registered Nurses.
  • Familiarity with National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and Australian College of Operating Room Nurses (ACORN) Standards.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and communication.
